Educate Yourself To Be A ALLY?

SAFE SPACE TRAINING

DO YOU KNOW?

Most LGBTQ+ individuals will not seek help because they are afraid that the person on the other side of the desk/phone will blame their problems on being LGBTQ.

—What is Safe Space Training

It is LGBTQ+ Allies Lake County’s vision to make Lake county a safe and healthy place for LGBTQ people to live, work, and establish families. One of the many ways we will do that is by providing Safe Space Training. Safe Space Training is designed to promote community LGBTQ education and awareness. The training gives attendees the opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, language and terminology, misconceptions and microaggressions, and how to be an ally. This 2-hour workshop will also give your staff better awareness and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.

— Why LGBTQ+ Safe Space Training

LGBTQ+ people who face discrimination in the workplace have difficulty concentrating, and may end up leaving their jobs. Safe Space Training benefits both businesses and their employees, fostering stronger relationships within the workplace. Research has repeatedly demonstrated a positive relationship between LGBTQ+ supportive workplaces and employee health, commitment, job satisfaction, and productivity. Providing LGBTQ+ community education demonstrates a commitment to employees, and likely to attract socially conscious consumers.

— What can you expect

Safe Space Trainings are conducted by Betty Jacobs, Founder/Executive Director of LGBTQ+Allies Lake County. The 2 hour training includes a general overview of the LGBTQ community and issues, understanding pronouns, discussion and activities, and answers “what does it means to be an ally”.
